Douniya – West African Drum and Dance Academy, brings together some of Australia’s finest West African musicians and dancers to share the traditions of West African music and culture. The West African ancient tradition of rhythm, song and dance began in the Mandeng Empire. The musicians were known as Griots. Griots families continue to carry these traditions across generations and keep the traditions alive. Douniya offers regular classes, intensive workshops, private tuition and performance.
