Classes

What to expect from tuition…

The drum is a musical instrument, the rhythm the language. The Djembe and Sabar (Senegalese) drum classes teach traditional rhythms, showing students how different rhythmic parts and solo patterns fit together. Classes also teach technique, build stamina and develop repertoire.

West African dance is a high energy dance form accompanied by live drumming. The drums and the dance are closely connected. The dance classes focus on traditional choreographies and how the dance steps relate to the rhythmic parts. A student will learn how to express the movements and develop an African style.
